Ed Tech Update

  • Google Chat Migration
Note: This is going live tomorrow, April 1 at 5 pm
Google will be transitioning all customers from its classic Hangouts service to its new enterprise-grade collaboration product, Google Chat, making Google Chat the default chat application.

Why is Google moving to Chat?
Along with 1:1 and group chats, Chat supports virtual spaces to help teams collaborate on projects in one place. Teams can share files from Drive, join online meetings with Meet, and pull other tools or workflows into the conversation.

Chat will be integrated within Gmail when launched from a web browser, or the most recent Gmail application on any mobile device.

For more information about the new Google Chat, please visit Google's Learning Center.

If you have any questions, please submit a SchoolDude ticket or give the help desk a call at (916) 771-1645, and we'd be happy to assist.
