Air Quality and Temperature Guidelines

Air Quality:

When air quality is in orange, PE and recess may remain outside and follow the guidelines of "minimize exposure" and "reduce exertion," and at red, we all go in. Please err on the side of caution when looking at the numbers, meaning if it is orange and you can smell smoke in the air, it is best to go inside.

Below are two sites you can use to check air quality.  We know there are different readings on different websites, so once again, we ask that you are checking and using your best judgment.

Temperature Guidelines:

With high temperatures, it is important that we encourage students that are outside to drink water and get breaks in the shade.  When the temperature is 100 degrees at the time of the activity, bring the students inside. Temperatures in the high 90s are a site decision, but any time it is 100 degrees or above, students must be brought inside.  For example, if the forecast is a high of 102, but at lunchtime, it is 92, students can go outside and play.  If you have any questions, please ask your principal.

K/1 Lexia

Native Language Support

Lexia offers Native Language Support to provide additional support for English language learners. The Language Support button allows students to hear the task directions in their native language. The Core5 content will still be in English. This support should be reserved for your newcomer students who have limited English language acquisition. If you have any questions, please reach out to your EL Site Leader. For more information on how to enable Native Language Support, please see the document below.

From Personnel- Classified or Substitute Employees Interesting in Becoming a Teacher

All call for current non-certificated (classified or substitute) employees who are interested in becoming a teacher!

Placer COE, in partnership with UMass Global, Alpine, Amador, Nevada, Sierra, Sutter, and Yolo counties, has been awarded a grant that you may be able to access in your pursuit of becoming a classroom teacher.

If you hold a BA, it is possible to be an intern eligible for the 23-24 school year. Between UMass Global and Placer COE the following Intern programs are available: Multiple Subject, Single Subject, Mild Moderate Support Needs, Extensive Support Needs, and Early Childhood Special Education. This grant would also support a current non-certificated employee who have 24 ECE units but not a degree and/or teaching credential and who is interested in becoming a TK teacher.
