Progress Report Information

Elementary Progress Reports
A reminder, Elementary Progress Reports need to go home by Friday, January 20th. Progress Report PLC prep day is Wednesday, January 18th. One progress report has just the domains, and the other has more details. The progress report with more detail has been created based on the District pacing guides. The document below has all the progress reports. Because the Domain-only progress
report is the same for all 3 trimesters, teachers will need to update the trimester after they make a copy.

K/1 Specific Information

Teachers can use either the progress report similar to the one from 1st Trimester or one similar to what has been used in the past that has the domains.  It is the teacher’s decision which one they would like to use.  A reminder that ESGI report expectations are that they are sent home at at progress report time Tri 1, and end of Tri 1, 2, and 3.  There is no district expectation to send ESGI reports at progress report time for Tris 2 and 3.

Progress Report Expectations

There are two minimum expectations from the District when it comes to Progress Reports in 2nd Trimester:

  • Any student that might receive a Beginning on any domain on the Trimester 2 Report Card receives communication regarding progress from their teacher during progress report time.  This includes both academic domains and learning behaviors.

    • The communication does not have to be in the form of the RCSD progress report. Teachers can communicate using the District form, or you may use your own form of communication (Examples include assessment binders, portfolios, or other means of communication with parents). If you are going to communicate using something different than the District provided form, you must let your administrator know.

  • PLCs are on the same page in regard to what information they send home and when they send that home.

Teachers are allowed to send additional information or information to all students if they choose, but that is a PLC decision.

Middle School Mid-Trimester Progress Check

Middle School Teachers: An email from the school site will go home on Friday, January 20 to remind parents they can check grades in Otus. Here is a sample of the message that will be sent home by the school site. A reminder all students should have a grade for both Engagement and Work Completion.

1/9/23 PD Day Feedback

If you attended the PD day at Eich on Monday, please fill out the form below by 1/13/23 if you have not done so already.  Thank you again to our elementary RCSD teachers and staff who also presented on that day!

January 9, 2023 PD Feedback Form

i-Ready Diagnostics

The i-Ready window 2 closes on January 27th, 2023. To ensure that Diagnostic results reflect current student performance, each student must complete the Diagnostic within 28 days of starting it. If you see a red hourglass next to a student’s name, the student has the indicated time (located next to the red hourglass) remaining to complete the Diagnostic; otherwise, it will be reset.

Otus Feedback Form Update

Thank you for taking the time to complete the Otus feedback form last month.  It is clear that the middle schools are still prioritizing a Learning Management System (LMS) that allows staff to enter assignments and grades in one place but want a more user-friendly system that includes better grade communication for students and parents, while elementary feedback was mainly around ease of use and customization of report cards.  We realize the needs of elementary and middle school are different and will take that into consideration in any next steps.

The District is preparing to launch a Request for Proposal (RFP) for a new Learning Management System that best aligns with our evolving teaching and learning goals. The desired outcome for this project is to evaluate the Learning Management System (LMS) market and establish whether the District should select a new LMS partner or continue to work with Otus.

Once the bid closes, all proposals will be evaluated for completeness and the vendor’s ability to meet or exceed RFP specifications based on the criteria received from the staff. A selection committee will then be established consisting of educators, administrators, and community members to participate in vendor demonstrations and provide input to ensure an LMS is selected that best meets the needs of the District.

If you are interested in participating on the selection committee, please be on the lookout in the upcoming weeks for how to apply, important dates, and more. We will keep you up to date as we move through the process.

Personnel Updates

Wellness

Life is challenging.  RCSD employees are able to utilize the ComPsych Employee Assistance Program (EAP).  ComPsych EAP offers confidential emotional support and legal, financial, and work-lift guidance for RCSD employees and their families.  Please refer to EAP Support for more information.

Technology Updates

IMPORTANT Application Update - Please restart your laptop or computer.

Sophos, the District’s antivirus application, continuously updates in the background to ensure the District is secure from viruses, spyware, and other malware.

Staff must restart their computers or laptops monthly to ensure these updates are installed and Sophos runs properly on their device. Before you leave for the day, please restart your computer or laptop to minimize downtime. Updates should be installed after hours, and your computer or laptop will be ready when you return in the morning.

Reminder: Please turn off classroom TVs before leaving your site

Televisions have become an essential classroom presentation and curriculum resource across each campus. To maintain your TV's longevity, please ensure it is turned off when not in use and before you leave your site every day. Similar to projectors, televisions are not intended to be on 24 hours a day, and the District is seeing an increase in LED burnouts. While most televisions can be configured to automatically turn off after a certain number of hours of inactivity, we’re hesitant to enable this setting and potentially interrupt classroom instruction.
