MTSS Spotlight What do we mean in RCSD when we use the acronym MTSS?  In RCSD, our Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) is an integrated, comprehensive framework. We organize resources and services on a continuum of support, based on students’ academic , behavioral, and social needs. This differs from our old RTI model because it encompasses academics, behavior and social-emotional learning.  To address all three of these areas, we have strong curriculum, essential standards in K-5 for ELA, tiered interventions, PBIS, and Second Step.  In addition, we use our SSP process to identify students who need interventions (in academics, behavior or SEL) and we make decisions based on data and evidence.  We work in PLCs to align our results, discuss students by name and by need, and plan how we are going to respond to the needs of our students.  We have dedicated adults who are invested in learning the new systems while continuing to support our existing ones.
