Otus Update to Report Card Comments

In Otus, you are now able to add the same note for multiple students in a class from the gradebook. You can also use this method to add notes for individual students. As we get closer to Trimester 2 Report Card time, the District will create a video and instructions of how to do this.

It is important to note that while teachers will be able to add the same comment for all students, if a teacher needs to edit that comment they will have to go into each student individually. Once again, more details, including a video will be coming soon.

i-Ready Diagnostic Window 2

The i-Ready window 2 closes on January 27th, 2023. If you haven't already, please work with your PLC to determine how and when to send home “For Families” reports sharing student progress. These reports provide families with information on student performance, including overall performance, additional suggestions, and domain explanations.

To access the reports, please go to i-Ready and click Reports→ Batch→ For Families

Chat GPT

Chat GPT (Generative Pre-Trained Transformer) is a new Artificial Intelligence tool that can comprehend and generate natural language or human text. It is a tool that is trained on large amounts of text data and uses an algorithm known as Transformer to learn how to generate text that is close to or similar to Human Conversation.  People can use it for writing papers, asking questions, or more.

We are not sure exactly how this will impact education (or the world), but we wanted to make sure our educators had heard about this tool.  If students have not heard about it yet, they will at some point in the near future from friends, news, or social media.  We know this type of technology brings unknowns as far as how teachers or students can use it, and as a District we will continue to learn together.  Currently, this tool is blocked on the District wifi, but students can access on their home network or personal device.  If you have specific concerns about this technology please reach out to your principal.  Below are some articles that give additional information.
