Otus Middle School Grading Slides and Videos

If you would like to get family contact info (such as parent name or email address in one document in PowerSchool, go to sqlReports, Contacts, then run reports. You can download the report as a CSV, PDF or print directly from there.
Elementary Grading Slides
Thank you for the feedback and questions from the PD on Monday. We will include a document in next week’s blog with questions and answers that were entered on the form. Below are the slides that were presented on Monday.

English Language Development (ELD) Reminder
Please remember that CA requires that all EL students receive daily Designated English Language Development (ELD) instruction that is focused on language acquisition and the CA ELD standards. Best practice is to provide at least 30 minutes of Designated ELD each day. The 30 minutes may be broken up into shorter chunks of time to best support students in learning the language that is needed to access academic content. It is important that teachers are able to “point to” the dedicated Designated ELD time in their daily schedule.

CAA Score Reports
Students that took the CAA for ELA, Math, or Science will have results available after September 15th. Please look for reports in PowerSchool at that time.

Beginning of the Year Writing Activities
Need some beginning of the year, low-stakes writing activities? Please review the document below of writing activities suggested by RCSD teachers. These writing activities are a great way for you and your students to build relationships and create a class community. You can tailor these writing activities to your grade level as needed. Please let me know if you have any other activities you would like to add!

As K-5 teachers, you have access to Mystery Science through your Discovery Education app in Clever. Click on Discovery Education in Clever, once you are logged into DE you will find the Mystery Science tab under your Curriculum Packs. More information is coming soon on how to request science materials.

Two Cycles of K-5 Professional Development will be held this year. All substitute assignments for the PD will be arranged by Sub Services. Please review this PD Cycle Schedule to see which two dates your PLC will be attending and email Jennie Ruvalcaba if you notice any discrepancies. More information will be shared as your PD date approaches.
