A reminder that in RCSD, we teach Digital Citizenship to all students K-8. The Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) requires all students K-12 receive Internet Safety lessons to learn about appropriate online behavior each year. We use Common Sense Media for our safety lessons. The lesson topics are the same as last year, although you will notice that Common Sense Media updated the lessons so some titles have changed from previous years.
Below is a link to the lessons for each grade level.
All lessons linked on the document for your grade level are expected to be taught by the end of the school year.

K-1 Foundational Skills Assessments
Beginning-of-Year Foundational Reading Skills data for Kindergarten and 1st Grade is due in ESGI by September 18th. This includes only reading assessments. All resources can be found in Foundational Skills Hubs listed below.

K-1 Teachers: Reading Fluency Assessment Committee
We are looking for K–1 teachers to join a committee focused on the reading fluency assessments currently used in RCSD. The committee will provide feedback and discuss current assessment practices. For committee dates and more information, please check out this Google Form.

K-5: What’s New In Benchmark Advance for the 2026-2027 School Year
- For K-1: In addition to the Foundational Skills Slides, there are now Daily Lesson Slides for each week. Download slides and drop in your Drive for editable and customizable slide decks.
- For 2-5: Structured Lessons for Prompt-Based Writing Success
A flexible writing resource developed to support weekly writing lessons, as well as to provide writing scaffolds and supports - Exit Ticket Presentations
Exit Tickets are presented as a short series of slides (PowerPoint format), and include an Open-Ended Question, a Selected-Response Item, and an Answer Slide. Daily Exit Tickets are provided in Grades 2–5. One set of Exit Tickets is provided per day to address the comprehension or vocabulary skills taught during reading instruction that day. - Word Study Resources: Multisyllabic Word Division Resources

Otus Assessment Update
All of the Form A and Form B assessments for Middle School ELA have now been updated to a points based scale within Otus. There is an additional copy of each assessment aligned with the 1-8 Summative scale for Eich ELA teachers. Within each assessment, the standard and domain are linked so that you are able to access the data through AI Insights for the standard (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RI.6.4) while also connecting the assessment to the custom standard/domain (LA.RI) in the Standards Gradebook. The end of Unit ELA curriculum assessments are in the process of being added on a points based scale as well. By August 17th, these end of unit assessments will be available using a points scale in Otus.

We have partnered with Otus to add all of the Math Form A, B, and C assessments into Otus. We will update you when those are available.
Otus has a current list of all Math and ELA teachers in RCSD. Math teachers will have access to the shared Math assessment folder and ELA teachers will have access to the shared ELA assessment folder.

K-5 enVision+ Math
We will continue learning about the new math curriculum through PD Cycle days. One helpful planning resource the pilot team created is the RCSD K-5 Math SAVVAS enVision+ Pacing & Planning Guide. This includes enVision's pacing for each topic, and it highlights which lessons address RCSD essential standards. There are also links to PDFs of the topic assessments for quick printing. This resource is also available on the Key Resources Hub.
For a quick overview on how to download the student pages for each lesson as a PDF, please follow the link below. Once student workbooks are ready at your site, if you would like a teacher copy of the student edition, please ask your LMS.

If you would like to learn more about what it looks like to teach the different components and lesson types, there are short overview videos of these linked in your digital platform. Scroll past the topics down to the “Program Resources” section. Then select “Classroom/Author Videos.”

K-8 Science Materials: Ordering Materials from the Media Center
Science materials orders will begin on September 1st. To see a list of what is available for ordering, please use the first tab on the sheet linked below. To place an order, please follow the steps at the top of the first tab, “Complete List/Order Form”. Be sure to rename your copy of the spreadsheet with your last name and school site. Once you select the quantities needed for each item you would like to order, please share the list (print or digital) with your Library Media Specialist.

TK-8 Science Professional Learning Opportunity through CAL-MSCS with Stipend
CAL-MSCS is offering a professional learning series focused on creating inclusive learning experiences for all students in science. Wireless Network Connection Requires Your Attention
The District is scheduled to perform its yearly certificate update for the Wireless Network on August 24th at 4:00 p.m. This essential update maintains a secure and verified connection for all users. Please be aware that you might experience a temporary disconnection from the network until the following steps are completed.
If prompted to verify the certificate, you should choose 'Continue' (Image below might be different based on the type of device you are using)
You will then be required to provide the username and password you use to login to your computer. (Image below might be different based on the type of device you are using)
Once you have completed the steps above, you should be connected back to the network like you normally are. If you still have issues with or after performing these steps please feel free to contact the helpdesk by using your District Classroom/Office phone.
