Headings may look decorative, but they are actually the "roadmap" screen readers use to navigate a page. In text editors, you’ll see these labeled as Heading 1 (H1), Heading 2 (H2), and so on. A screen reader uses these levels to create an outline that a user can navigate seamlessly.
- Here are some tips to make sure that you are using headings correctly:
- Headings are used in descending order (H1, H2, H3, etc.)
- Headings are not used as decoration or for visual emphasis
- Heading levels are not skipped (e.g., H2 to H4)
- Use only one H1 per web page or document

K-5 enVision+ Math
We are working to merge the downloadable student pages for all lessons in each topic into a single file for easier access. We have finished Topic 1 and 2 for all grade levels, and will keep working through each topic for each grade. These links are being added to the RCSD K-5 Math SAVVAS enVision+ Pacing & Planning Guide as they become available. This resource is also available on the Key Resources Hub.

November PD Day - Last Day to Fill out the Form for Input
We have started planning our Professional Development Day on November 2nd. This will be a choice day for our elementary certificated staff and IAs in the morning. All sessions will be focused on aspects of behavior. In order to support our planning, we are utilizing the feedback gathered from past surveys. If there is something else you would like to suggest as a topic related to behavior, please take a moment to fill out this form. The form will close at 3:30, today, August 27th. We will use the information to do our best to find presenters.

Some staff have reported that calendar events they received by email from other RCSD staff are no longer appearing on their Google Calendar. This may be related to a previous Calendar Event Setting:
When I respond to the invitation in email: Adds an invitation to your calendar only when you respond to the invitation in email.
With this setting, an event is added to your calendar only after you respond Yes, No, or Maybe to the invitation email. If you did not respond to the invitation, the event may not have remained on your calendar.
On Tuesday, Technology Services updated the default Event Setting for all staff to:
Only if the sender is known: Adds an invitation to your calendar only if the sender is in your contacts or if you've interacted with them before.
Going forward, invitations from people you know or have previously interacted with will automatically appear on your Google Calendar for you to accept or decline, even if you don't respond through the email invitation.
Please note: This change does not restore invitations you received before Tuesday. To help reduce the likelihood of missing meeting invitations, we recommend leaving the setting as configured.
Certificated Laptop Refresh Update
We’re excited to share an update on this year’s certificated laptop refresh.
In July, we ordered 705 new MacBook Neo laptops for all certificated teachers, counselors, school nurses, speech-language pathologists, social workers, and psychologists. Apple has provided an anticipated delivery date of November 17, 2026.
Once the new laptops arrive, our Technology Services team will begin tagging and preparing the devices and coordinating deployment schedules with schools for after fall break.
How You Can Help Prepare
To help make deployment as smooth and efficient as possible, please use the time before the new devices arrive to work with your Leader in Technology Education (LITE) to ensure any files or information stored locally on your current district-issued laptop have been moved to your Google Drive.
Google Drive provides unlimited storage for district staff and will make transitioning to your new laptop much easier. Because we will be deploying 705 devices districtwide, we will prioritize schools that have completed this step before deployment so we can issue laptops as efficiently as possible.
What Happens to My Current Laptop?
Once your new MacBook Neo has been deployed, your current district-issued laptop will be collected and prepared for surplus. Staff will not be able to keep or purchase their current device.
Because these devices were purchased with public funds, the District cannot sell or give equipment directly to staff. Devices that are no longer in use must be handled through the District’s established surplus process, which may include public auction or responsible electronic recycling.
We appreciate everyone’s help preparing ahead of time. Taking a few steps now to move your files to Google Drive will help us make the transition to your new MacBook Neo as smooth as possible for everyone.
