22/23 Report Card Reminders

If you have questions, please reach out to the following people:

Angela- TK

Jennie- Kaseberg, Woodbridge, Blue Oaks, Riego Creek,  Junction, Brown

Kelly- Cirby, Fiddy, Gates, Stoneridge, Thomas Jefferson, Spanger

Joe Clark- RVA, Middle School, Sargeant, Diamond Creek, Crestmont, Orchard Ranch

Based on some questions we have received, we wanted to highlight a few things:

Elementary:

  • The rubrics for math and ELA are separated by grade level because we now have descriptions on the report card. This short Screencastify shows how to assign rubrics. A reminder to assign Learning Behaviors in Homeroom, ELA in Language Arts, and Math in your Math Class.
  • You can assign the rubric at any time but put the assigned due date as 11/4/22.
  • Below is the video of the optional report card training on 10/26/22.
  • PE Teachers will be assigning rubrics for PE and entering those grades, the classroom teacher does not need to do anything with the PE rubrics.
  • Science and Social Studies- Participation Scores for science and social studies comments, not rubrics.  The AFG committee looked at different options but leaving a comment was the best solution for now; this is the same process we have used for the past two years.  You can add the comment in your "homeroom" class or under where you put comments for Learning Behavior Standard comments.  Do not put the comment in Science, Social Studies just put the comment once. Please add one of the following comments:

Your child participated in Science and Social Studies.

                OR

Your child did NOT participate in Science and Social Studies.

  • One tip teachers have found helpful it to put all comments for students on one google doc and then copy and paste the comments over to Otus.
  • Elementary parents will be receiving this email on November 2, 2022 to remind them of the grading changes and resources.
  • If you click on Preview, you can see the description of the rubric:

Middle School:

In any class where students are not receiving Academic Grades (TA, Support Class), please put the following comment for each student in that class:

Students only receive Learning Behavior grades in this class.

Ed Services Information

Option to Submit a Request to have the District Build a Common Assessment in Otus

Teachers, if you would like help creating a common assessment in Otus with the purpose of using the data for PLCs, please fill out this form, Common Assessment Request

The assessment will be created for your team and you can request help retrieving data after the assessment has been completed.

  • This is for simple/advanced/rubric assessments

  • The request would be that all PLC members give the same test without making a copy

This 2 minute video shows an example of the workflow.

Please reach out to Joe Clark, (jclark01@rcsdk8.org) with questions.

K/1 Running Records/Fluency Expectations

Please use the following as a guideline when assessing students for fluency and determining proficiency. Teachers should continue testing a student until the student reaches an instructional or frustrational level.

Example: A Kindergarten student is proficient for trimester 1 at instructional level A or above. That being said, if you tested a student at level A and they scored independent, then they are proficient. However, in order to provide small group support based on student levels, you would continue to administer level B to a student who is scoring independent at level A.

If that student scores frustrational or instructional on level B, we would record B as their fluency level because it's the next level beyond independent level A.
