Board Workshop on 10-Year Enrollment and Facilities Plans

It is crucial our staff are updated and informed regarding the Board of Education workshop scheduled for this evening focusing on our 10-Year Enrollment and Facilities Plans. The workshop is intended for discussion and information sharing only; no formal decisions will be made.

We're at a new stage in RCSD’s journey to address new growth in some areas of the district while considering declining enrollment in others. This workshop, taking place this evening, is an opportunity for staff and the Board to come together, share insights, and learn about options for our path ahead. It is open to the public and will also be livestreamed.

When: Thursday, November 2, 2023

Time: 6 p.m.

Location: RCSD Board Room, 1050 Main Street

You can access the presentation for this workshop here.

We want to make it clear that this workshop is all about options and information. No action is being taken during this session. We value your perspectives, and your questions are more than welcome. If you have any queries or wish to discuss any aspect of this plan, please don't hesitate to reach out to Executive Director of Communications and Community Engagement, Jessica Hull, at jhull@rcsdk8.org or x50132.

More information will be shared with staff, families and our communities over the coming months, and we are committed to keeping you informed and involved every step of the way.

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

Elementary Conferences

I hope this note finds you well, as we look forward to the parent-teacher conferences. I am sincerely grateful for your outstanding dedication in preparing for these pivotal meetings.

As an RCSD parent and educator, I was deeply impressed by the insights and expertise demonstrated by my children's teachers during their elementary conferences. Their skill in creating a warm, empathetic space allowed for open dialogue and made a lasting impression.

Parent-teacher conferences present challenges for all involved, but each teacher I engaged with personally showed professionalism and grace to ensure a seamless experience, highlighting your commitment to student success and strong parent-teacher relationships.

Thank you to all our educators for your unwavering dedication and contribution to our district's supportive learning environment.

-Jamey

A few conference reminders:

  • Teachers are only expected to hold one family conference during Conference Week. If parents/guardians are not together and request separate meetings, please work with your principal to assist you in trying to find a solution to ensure one conference.

  • Teachers are expected to stay on campus for conferences, even if a conference is on Zoom.

  •  If you need an interpreter for another language besides Spanish, please work with your clerical to submit a Request for an Interpreter as soon as possible.

  • For more information or questions related to parent-teacher conferences, please connect with your site principal.

TECHNOLOGY SERVICES

Reminder: Do Not Use Dry-Erase Markers on Televisions

Technology Services has received questions about using dry-erase markers on the televisions in our classrooms and instructional spaces. It is essential to clarify that dry-erase markers should not be used on televisions. Doing so can result in streaks, stains, and even permanent damage to the television, incurring financial costs and disruptions to the learning environment. If you are currently using dry-erase markers on televisions, please stop this practice immediately. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
