Ed Services Update

  • Information Regarding Our Supplemental Tools for Next Year
Please see below for information regarding different educational tools for the 2022-23 school year:
    • i-Ready Diagnostic
Grades 2-8 will give the Diagnostic in both ELA and Math for Window 1 (Beginning of the Year) and Window 2 (December/January time). Window 3 will be optional for Grades 3-8 and required for Grade 2 since the 2nd grade does not have CAASPP. Teachers will be able to assign and give the diagnostic assessments outside of the district assigned windows.
    • i-Ready Instruction
For i-Ready Instruction, grades 2-5, the District will pay for either Math or Reading Instruction. A few years ago the District only covered the cost of Diagnostic and not any instruction. This decision was based on the data showing for most grade levels at most sites, students were not using both Reading and Math for more than 15 minutes a week (the goal from i-Ready is at least 30 minutes with an ideal 45 or more). Sites will have the option to purchase i-Ready for K/1 or the additional subject in grades 2-5.

For grades 6-8, Math will have iReady instruction or iXL, there is currently an IXL Pilot going on. 6-8 ELA will not have Reading instruction due to lack of use. Licenses i-Ready instruction for middle school ELA would be a site decision.
    • Lexia and ESGI
Students and teachers in grades K-1 will have access to Lexia Core 5, an adaptive online learning program that is designed to accelerate and support the development of literacy skills.

Teachers in TK, K, and 1 will have access to ESGI. ESGI will help support teachers in recording and administering assessments, including the Reading for Foundational Skills Assessments.

Training will be provided for both Lexia and ESGI at the beginning of the 2022-23 school year.
    • Otus
We will continue to use Otus next year. We will get feedback from all teachers through a survey in Winter (Dec/Jan) to decide the next steps and if we want to continue with Otus in the 2023-24 school year or look into a different service/solution.
    • Screencastify
Screencastify changed their pricing and licensing model so we are still working with them to see what their free accounts include as compared to their paid subscription. We will let our teachers know once we know more about this and the plan for the 2022-23 school year.
    • EduTyping
Grades 1-6 will continue having access for at least the next three (3) years.
