Zoom
If you have not done so already, please read the email Brandon sent out on 4/10 regarding Zoom A reminder you must either start a Zoom account through Clever or sync your current account.  Here is a video showing you how to do that.  Here is a list of the security settings and guidelines for RCSD.  This was in the email but we wanted to put in a doc as well. All resources from the email have been added to the RCSD Continuous Learning site under the Video Conferencing page.

Here is a video showing how to use the Whiteboard feature in Zoom (can be done on an iPad or Computer, although an iPad is probably much easier).

Zoom and Meet Comparison
Teachers can use Zoom or Meet right now, whichever they prefer and works best for them and their students. Here is a document showing the difference in security features and other features of both Zoom and Meet.  Google has rolled out a lot of new updates to Meet, including starting a Meet directly in Classroom.  Please read about the updates here if you are utilizing Meet.  While they have new features, it can take two weeks for the new settings to become live for all users.

3rd Trimester Feedback and Grading
This document has information regarding feedback and grading for 3rd trimester.  We will be going over this information with principals at Leadership on Monday and site leadership will be better able to answer your questions after the meeting on Monday.   Please read all information on the document before reaching out to your site admin.

Technology Support for Parents
A reminder that if a parent needs technology support they are being directed to reach out to their child's teacher.  If you are unable to assist them please work with your LITE.  If it is something that still needs assistance please submit a SchoolDude ticket and the Technology Department will be able to help the teacher resolve the issue with the family.

A reminder that RCSD Staff can utilize the Help Desk but that number should never be given to parents.  Here is the document showing Contacts for the Tech Department, Spring 2020.

iReady Support and Educator Training
Just a heads up that iReady has opened Instruction for both math and reading for all of our students in Kindergarten through Eighth Grade.  They have also opened up a resource for teachers called The Toolbox.  This resource has lessons, interventions, suggestions for strategies and more!  Please see the previous blog post for more information regarding support and training dates and times.

Whiteboard Site
This is a cool whiteboard tool that you can use with students.  It is meant to be used lived, meaning it isn't something like Padlet where they can post and come back later.  Once you share the code with students, they can only see their whiteboard and the teacher's whiteboard, they cannot see other student boards.  Here is the site https://whiteboard.fi/ and here are more details about how to use it from Alice Keeler.

Uploading Video
There have been some reports that uploading video to Drive takes a lot of time.  You can always upload to Youtube, that seems to go quicker.  If you are using your iPad to take videos, you would just need to download the Youtube app, sign-in, and then you can upload the videos to Youtube straight from your iPad.

Google Classroom

As we started this new journey of Distance Learning, we temporarily opened up Classroom to non-RCSD accounts.  Due to privacy concerns of having parents logged in under a Gmail account we need to limit students to only @rcsdk8 or @rcsdkids accounts.  If you have a parent that has logged in as a student you will need to let them know they need to log in with their child's user name and password.  Here is a video explaining to parents how to log in to Clever.

If you have a student-teacher that needs to be added as a co-teacher, please submit a SchoolDude ticket with their email address (must be from a University or county office of education) and we can work on allowing the student teacher to join. All @placercoe.k12.ca.us email addresses will be allowed.
