EDUCATIONAL SERVICES TK-8 Science: Monterey Bay Aquarium Summer Workshops The Monterey Bay Aquarium offers free summer workshops for TK-12 educators. The one-day workshops below both offer multiple options for dates, a $100 stipend for completion of the workshop, a complimentary catered lunch, and free entrance to the aquarium after the workshop. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES K-5 Science Materials If you need materials for a science lab or other activity you are planning, you can order materials from the list below from the warehouse through your site’s Library Media Specialist. We are working to update the list regularly with the changing availability of items. When orders are submitted, we will work to get the materials delivered to sites as quickly as possible, but please allow a two-week turnaround for this. PERSONNEL SERVICES Mentor Teachers Needed for Student Teachers - 2024/2025 School Year It is that time of year again, where we are asking for volunteers to host Student Teachers & Interns for the 2024/2025 school year. Typical placements are from August to December or January to May. A few placements may run year long. We are looking to place student teachers across both Elementary & Middle School classes, including PE & Music. Mentor teachers must meet the following criteria: Minimum 3 years teaching experience (does not have to be with RCSD) Current credential for the subject you are teaching (No inductions or preliminary credential accepted) Approval of your site principal If you are interested in hosting a student teacher for the upcoming school year and meet the above requirements, please complete this form . IXL Minis can be found in IXL under the Resources>Professional Development tab. It also shows the availability of these materials in our warehouse. Fortunately, most of the materials needed for Mystery Science labs are in stock in the warehouse. Besides the Science Techbook and Mystery Science curriculum packs, there are videos, games, and activities available through Discovery Education Explore that can support all content areas. Here are a couple that are highly recommended by users: Vooks: hundreds of video read-alouds covering a variety of topics Virtual Field Trips: take students beyond the walls of the classroom without having to go anywhere To find these resources you can just type them into the search bar on the Discovery Education dashboard/landing page. They can be shared with students whole class or assigned to them to access independently. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES Elementary Report Card Information Report Card Prep is February 21, 2024. Report cards must be sent home by Friday, March 1st. Please work with your principal on if report cards will be emailed or printed and by when. Teachers have the ability to print their own report card in PTP. We will have an optional Zoom training on February 21 from 2:00pm-2:30pm for any elementary teacher that needs reminders on how to enter grades or comments in PowerSchool. Here is the Zoom link for the training. If grades are entered and you want to see what they look like, everything is live so you can create a PDF anytime between now and March 1st. EDUCATIONAL SERVICES RCSD Professional Development Survey, 2024 It is time to develop the next Professional Learning Plan for 2024-2027, as the current 2021-2024 plan will end in June. The Professional Learning Plan will ensure that all students will exit RCSD at the end of eighth grade with strong academic, social-emotional, and behavioral skills. The form below gives all staff an opportunity to be part of this process, and the information gathered in the survey will be used by the Professional Development Advisory Committee (PDAC) to put together a professional learning plan for the next three years.
