Otus Tips for Teachers
Do you have an Otus tip that could help other teachers? We are working on putting together some additional professional development around Otus for next year and would love to include tips from some of our RCSD Educators. Please email a description or send a short video to Brandon Blom showing your tip or trick. Below is an example of what we are looking for. The video shows how one of our RCSD teachers emails students and parents a reminder about missing assignments.

Elementary Discovery Education Science Kits

In a continued effort to always use our resources to the best of our abilities and use our space the best we can, we will be collecting back some of our Discovery Education tubs. However, it will be essential to read the directions carefully to know what tubs and how many. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out with questions.

  1. Each grade level is required to keep at least one Discovery Education kit. A grade level can keep more than one if they would like.

  2. All other tubs will be collected by the LMS and returned to the RCSD Media Center.

We will have a new system at the beginning of the 23-24 school year for teachers to request consumable science materials. We have pre-purchased items by grade level for teachers to request. These are the set items for each grade level moving forward and will be provided based on availability. Information about additional items to support science will be shared at the beginning of next school year.

FAQ:

  1. Can a teacher take out an item from a tub and then return the rest of the items? No, we are trying to keep bins as complete as possible.  It would be best for a teacher to keep the bin if you would like to keep something in it.

  2. Can a grade level keep one full-grade kit and one or two tubs from another teacher's kit? Yes

  3. Will all my consumable materials be replenished? No, we have pre-ordered the most popular items based on feedback and the most common items across the grade level to replenish. All other consumable items need to be replenished by the site.

  4. Do I send back loose materials that were not originally in bins? You can, however, you can also keep those items as part of your set.

  5. Can the Discovery Education items in the tubs be used for Mystery Science? Yes, our hope for combining all materials is to get science in the hands of more students.
